Experienced hooker Adam McBurney today penned a new one-year extension with Edinburgh Rugby.
The Scottish qualified front-rower has been a consistent performer since joining the capital side from Ulster in 2021, scoring six tries in 20 total appearances.
The hard-running hooker who has been named vice-captain on several occasions, has notched up four tries this current campaign, grabbing braces against Zebre Parma and Cell C Sharks.
On penning a new deal, McBurney said: “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Edinburgh so far.I’m glad to have had an opportunity to sign a new deal.
“The squad have made me feel right at home since making the move nearly two years ago. It’s a brilliant group to be part of and I take great pride every time I pull on the jersey and represent the club.
“We’ve got a really exciting squad in place here with a hooker group that continually drives each other on. I’m delighted to be playing my rugby in Edinburgh for another season yet.”
McBurney – whose grandmother was from Cadder, Lanarkshire – joined the Ulster academy set-up in 2016 and represented Ireland from U18 to U20.
His progress led to a senior debut for Ulster in 2017 and his first senior contract with the Irish Province a year later.
He went on to make 35 appearances for the URC side before making the move to the Scottish capital in the summer of 2021.
McBurney made his Edinburgh Rugby debut in the away victory over Dragons at Rodney Parade in November 2021.
Head Coach Mike Blair added: “Adam has been a really influential and consistent performer since joining the club. He’s a brilliant guy to coach because of the energy he brings to training every day.
“Adam drives standards while commanding respect because of his attitude and commitment. We’re delighted to see him re-sign where he’ll remain an integral member of our squad.”
