Four players stood out from the crowd: Piers O’Conor, Hector Patterson, Darcy Graham and Ewan Ashman.
These four standouts have been shortlisted for April’s Scottish Building Society Player of the Month award, and now it is up to the fans to decide who deserves the trophy.
The winning player will not only receive the April trophy but will also be awarded a £500 donation from Scottish Building Society to a local rugby club or cause of their choosing, continuing the commitment to supporting the grassroots game in Scotland.
Piers O’Conor
O’Conor produced a series of assured performances throughout April that underlined just how important he has become to Edinburgh’s attacking game.
He was a standout at Aviva Stadium in the Champions Cup last-16 clash against Leinster, where his composure under the high ball was a constant comfort in testing conditions.
Back at Hive Stadium, his quality shone again against Zebre Parma – a clever chip through set up Hector Patterson for his debut try, a moment of real craft from a player who continues to grow in influence at full-back.
He rounded off the month with a further try assist against the Hollywoodbets Sharks, collecting Darcy Graham’s grubber before feeding the winger for a score that will be talked about for some time.
Hector Patterson
It is difficult to think of a more eye-catching Edinburgh debut in recent memory. The scrum-half made his first appearance in a capital jersey against Zebre Parma and has not looked back since.
Patterson crossed for a try on debut, looked every inch a seasoned professional with his composure in contact and his kicking game immediately on point.
He followed that up with an equally impressive showing against the Hollywoodbets Sharks – an early 50:22 set his side up for a score, before he made it two tries in two games, getting on the shoulder of Ewan Ashman following a charge down to finish coolly.
At times he has looked like a Duracell bunny – seemingly everywhere at once and showing no signs of slowing down.
Darcy Graham
Scotland’s all-time top try scorer has been back to his brilliant best this April, delivering two of the most memorable moments of Edinburgh’s season.
At Aviva Stadium in the Champions Cup last-16, Graham produced a world-class solo effort against Leinster that served as a reminder of just what he is capable of at the highest level.
He was equally devastating against the Hollywoodbets Sharks – an incredible individual score that saw him chip down the touchline, gather his own kick and beat three defenders en route to a sensational finish that brought the house down at Hive Stadium.
Ewan Ashman
The hooker has been one of Edinburgh Rugby’s most consistent performers all season long, but April saw him reach another level entirely.
Ashman went the full 80 minutes in back-to-back home fixtures against Zebre Parma and the Hollywoodbets Sharks, scoring twice in the first of those matches and adding another against the Sharks.
He was named BKT Player of the Match in both games – a remarkable achievement that speaks to the relentless quality of his performances across the month, whether in the set-piece, the loose or as a finishing threat at the line.
