Boyle voted Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for November

Connor Boyle was today voted Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for November after winning a public vote that saw over 2000 supporters submit their pick in one the tightest battles yet.

Boyle, 23, picks up the award after a hugely impressive November in the capital pack – the back-row started all three home fixtures against Connacht, Vodacom Bulls and Benetton Rugby at Hive Stadium.

After grabbing a score from the pine in the away defeat to Leinster, Boyle was at his best in a three-game home stand, proving a thorn in his opponents’ sides at the breakdown where his jackalling and turnover abilities were on show throughout for the Burgh faithful.

While Ben Healy grabbed the headlines with a last-gasp winner against Connacht, Boyle was a defensive juggernaut, making 20 tackles and recording two turnovers.

Boyle backed that up with a Player of the Match performance against Vodacom Bulls – his 20 tackles and two turnovers paved the way for a bonus-point win against the South African franchise.

On being named November’s Player of the Month, Boyle said: “I’m so happy to win this award. I feel like I’ve started the season really well which is a massive positive for me.

“While I’m happy with my own performances, the fact the team is doing well and going from strength-to-strength is the main thing – we’ve started the year really brightly and have a lot to build on.

He continued: “The fact the fans have voted for this is brilliant and it means a lot to me. I can hopefully pay back that faith they’ve shown in me by getting better each week.

As part of the Player of the Month initiative – which is now in its third season of running – Main Club Partner Scottish Building Society have once again committed to donate £500 to each winning players’ charity or cause of choice.

Boyle has chosen Cash for Kids for this month’s award – a charity that helps disadvantaged children that need it most throughout the UK.

He continued: “I’ve chosen Cash for Kids as I was looking for a charity with local impact. They do a huge amount to help children across Edinburgh and the Lothians, so hopefully the £500 generously donated by Scottish Building Society can help them continue that work this Christmas.”
