Harry Paterson returns to action for Edinburgh ‘A’

Scotland full-back Harry Paterson takes the next step in his injury recovery, starting for Edinburgh ‘A’ against Bath United tomorrow afternoon at the Recreation Ground (12 October, 1pm)

Paterson is one of eight senior players selected for the trip to the West of England and plays his first minutes since sustaining a foot injury during pre-season.

Edinburgh ‘A’ are playing their second match in England in as many weeks, having narrowly lost out against Saracens Storm last weekend.

The Scotland international is joined in the back three by pro-academy pair of Lewis Wells and Jack Brown.

Pro-Academy centre Findlay Thomson starts at inside centre alongside Glasgow Warriors midfielder Ben Salmon.

In the halves, senior duo of Charlie Shiel (scrum-half) and Ben Healy (fly-half) start to complete the starting backs.

In the pack, Mikey Jones (loosehead) and Javan Sebastian (tighthead) pack down alongside Jerry Blyth-Lafferty in the front row – hooker Blyth-Lafferty fresh from a brace last weekend against Saracens Storm.

Senior lock Rob Carmichael is once again partnered in the engine room by Euan McVie – the duo having started the previous five ‘A’ games together

Connor Boyle skippers the side at openside flanker and is joined in the back-row by fellow senior player Liam McConnell, and pro-academy back-rower Freddy Douglas.

On the match, Edinburgh ‘A’ Head Coach Rob Chrystie added: “This is another great opportunity for the ‘A’ team, playing against another good side from down south.

We learned a lot against Saracens Storm last time out, with the game giving the team game time against a new and challenging opposition, and this week should be the same at the Rec.”
