Thompson voted October’s Scottish Building Society Player of the Month
Fly-half Ross Thompson has today been announced Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for October, winning the fan vote after an impressive month in the capital.
Thompson steered the ship with aplomb in Edinburgh’s home bonus-point wins against DHL Stormers and Cardiff Rugby, notching 18 points from the tee in the process.
The out-half was creator in chief at Hive Stadium, a standout moment against Cardiff saw Thompson’s cross-field kick land in Darcy Graham’s hands, kick-starting one of several cutting attacks against the Welsh visitors.
On picking up the award, Thompson said: “I’m really enjoying all the rugby, and it’s been great getting to know the boys more and more.
“Getting voted Scottish Building Society Player of the Month by the fans is obviously very nice and it’s great to have their support, so a massive thanks to everyone that voted for me!”
As part of the award Thompson has been able to donate £500 – courtesy of Scottish Building Society – to a charity of their choice from our Main Club Partner’s foundation.
The stand-off has picked Portobello Town Hall, supporting a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to enhance their volunteer programme, supporting Portobello Town Hall’s community-focused operations.
Head Coach Sean Everitt added: “Ross played really well for us in October, adding some moments of flare whilst implementing our kicking strategy to good effect.
“He’s a young player, and he’s working hard to improve his game, but we’re really happy with how he’s doing so far this season, both in an attacking sense but in defence too”
