Edinburgh Rugby to host third inclusive rugby festival this Saturday

Edinburgh Rugby is proud to announce the return of the Scottish Building Society inclusive festival, taking place ahead of Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Cardiff Rugby at Hive Stadium.

This will be the third such event hosted by the capital club, following the success of two festivals held during the 2023/24 season.

Five teams will take part in the festival: Edinburgh Inclusive Rugby Team, Ayrshire Clan, Borders Clan, Fife Clan and Strathie Clan. With well over 100 players involved on the day, the festival promises to be a fantastic celebration of rugby for all.

As a precursor to that night’s BKT United Rugby Championship match against Cardiff Rugby at Hive Stadium, members from all five teams will be honoured ahead of kick-off as they deliver the match ball.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director expressed his pride in hosting the third Scottish Building Society inclusive festival.

“We are delighted to continue our commitment to making rugby a game for all. Inclusive rugby is a vital part of our club’s ethos, and we are proud to provide a platform for these fantastic teams to showcase their skills at home of Scottish Rugby. We look forward to another memorable day.”

Edinburgh Rugby Community Manager Ruaridh Pye discussed the importance of inclusivity as part of Edinburgh Rugby overall values.

“Having five inclusive teams participate in the festival is an amazing opportunity for all players involved.

“It’s a testament to the growth and development of inclusive rugby in Scotland. Our aim is to make rugby a welcoming and inclusive sport for everyone, and this festival is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

Paul Denton, Scottish Building Chief Executive Officer, echoed the sentiments:

“We’re thrilled to support the return of the Scottish Building Society inclusive festival. This event not only showcases the incredible talents of the teams but highlights the importance of inclusive rugby.

“It promises to be a memorable day for all involved, and we look forward to celebrating the spirit of community and sportsmanship that defines this tournament.”
