Graham voted April’s Scottish Building Society Player of the Month

Darcy Graham has today been voted April’s Scottish Building Society Player of the Month following a scintillating end to the 22/23 season which saw the Scotland star score three tries in the final two games of the campaign.

The winger marked his return from long-term injury with a brilliant brace of scores against Ospreys before capping off the campaign by grabbing his 12th try of the season against Ulster in only his 10th club appearance of the year.

The speedster was at his usual elusive best, evading 11 defenders in another impressive month, with the Hawick man rewarded for his form with a call-up to Scotland’s training squad for the upcoming Nations Series and World Cup tournament.

The award bookends another brilliant season for the winger who also picked up Scottish Building Society Player of the Month in September. Meanwhile Graham was today named in the BKT United Rugby Championship Elite XV (Team of the Year), Edinburgh’s only player named in the select squad.

On the award, Graham said: “I’m buzzing to get Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for April. It was a tough period being out injured, I’ve really enjoyed being back on the pitch and playing rugby again.

“The game against Ospreys was class – I’d forgotten how much fun it was playing in front of our fans, and to get two tries and the win that night was awesome.”

As part of the monthly award initiative, Main Club Partner Scottish Building Society has donated £500 to Graham’s chosen charity, with the winger once again selecting the Scottish Ambulance Service based in his hometown of Hawick.

The Ambulance Service played an integral role in saving the life of his brother (Clark), who was in a near-fatal car accident nearly two years ago.

“I’m so happy to be able to give my donation to the Scottish Ambulance Service again. I’ve spoken about it before, but it’s a cause that means so much to me and my family.

“They do amazing work, so I’m really thankful to Scottish Building Society for their £500 donation.”

Paul Denton, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Building Society, said: “It was great to see Darcy back to form over April winning the final Scottish Building Society Player of the Month award of the season.

“Whilst it was not the end of the season we all dreamed of, his performances showed there is a lot of potential and fight in this squad which I am sure is already gearing up for next season.

“We are equally proud to donate to Scottish Ambulance Service in Hawick for the second time of the year. We all know it is a charity which is very close to Darcy’s heart and we are delighted to support it once again.”
