Lang wins scottish building society player of the month: April
Centre James Lang has today been named Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for April, picking up the fan vote for an impressive month in the capital.
Lang excelled in a month that saw the capital side beat the Lions and Bulls at home, before taking a springbok laden Sharks side to the death at Hive Stadium.
The abrasive centre was in ferocious form in April, carrying with purpose while regularly linking play for the capital’s dangerous wing-men.
Lang has been a rare try scorer during his time in the capital, often providing for others, but enjoyed a bumper month with a brace of tries against the Bulls, before scoring acrobatically in the corner against the Sharks.
“It’s great to receive the player of the month award, especially because it has been voted for by the fans. We’re building well as a squad, and have picked up some good results, but we know there’s still work to do if we want to achieve something special this season.”
As part of the award, Lang will be able to donate £500 – courtesy of Scottish Building Society – to a charity of their choice from our main club partner’s foundation.
Lang has picked Berwickshire Swap, a charity that supports children and families struggling with clothing poverty, by organising and delivering children’s clothing, toy, book and baby equipment swap events.
“It’s a privilege to be able to give the donation to Berwickshire Swap. We’re in a very fortunate position as rugby players, so being able to offer the donation to charity that supports people that are struggling means a lot.”
