Scottish Building Society POTM October nominees announced

1 Nov 2024

The nominees for October's Scottish Building Society Player of the Month have today been announced, with a quartet of players selected by the coaching staff as the standouts in through the month.

Wing Darcy Graham, back-row Ben Muncaster, lock Grant Gilchrist, and fly-half Ross Thompson all caught the eye during October – a month that saw the capital club bag two impressive home bonus-point wins against the DHL Stormers and Cardiff Rugby.

The winning player will be able to donate £500 – courtesy of Scottish Building Society – to a charity of their choice from our main club partner’s foundation.

Darcy Graham

The star winger roared into form in October, bagging his first scores since returning from long-term injury. A constant threat ball in hand, the Hawick man scoring in both of the club’s home games. Ever busy, the winger made nine tackle breaks against Cardiff, gaining 55 metres in the process.

Ben Muncaster

Muncaster’s impressive October saw him earn a call-up to the Scotland squad for the Famous Grouse Nations Series, and deservedly so. The back-row bagged three scores in the month, in a dogged performance against the Lions from the bench, before notching a brace in a Player of the Match performance against the Stormers.

Grant Gilchrist

Tries are like London buses, right? Having not scored since January 2018, co-captain Gilchrist scored two in as many matches, first against the Lions and then at home against the Stormers.

The lock continues to be an influential figure in the capital’s pack, leading the side to home victories following a tough defeat in Joburg.

Ross Thompson

The fly-half was instrumental in guiding the capital side to two bonus point wins at home, kick-starting the attack whilst keeping the scoreboard ticking from the tee.

A standout moment against Cardiff saw the out-half’s crossfield kick land in Graham’s hands, kick-starting one of a number of impressive attacks against the welsh visitors.
