Venter voted December’s Scottish Building Society Player of the Month
Loosehead prop Boan Venter has today been announced as Scottish Building Society Player of the Month for December, winning the fan vote after a stellar month in the capital.
Giant prop Venter has been a mainstay in the capital pack this season, playing in every single match of the campaign thus far, culminating in an impressive December for the front row.
Having played a full 80 minutes against Gloucester at Kingsholm, Venter was pivotal for the capital in both 1872 matches over the festive period, bagging a brace at Hampden Park, before producing a standout display in the reverse fixture at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
On winning the award, Venter said: “It’s an honour to win Player of the Month, I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment and I’m excited for the places this group can go this season.
“It means a lot that this award is voted for by the fans. Their support is so important for driving us forward, and to have them recognise my performances is something special.”
As part of the award Venter is able to donate £500 – courtesy of Scottish Building Society – to a charity of their choice from our Main Club Partner’s foundation.
The loosehead has picked Berwickshire Swap, a charity that supports children and families struggling with clothing poverty, by organising and delivering children’s clothing, toy, book and baby equipment swap events.
On the donation, Venter added: “It’s a privilege to be able to give the donation to Berwickshire Swap. The charity is a great cause, they do some amazing work for those that are less fortunate than us.”
