Edinburgh Rugby appoint Wood as Head of Commercial

21 Dec 2022

Edinburgh Rugby has today appointment Gill Wood as its new Head of Commercial.

Wood takes up the role having held the same position at Worcester Warriors for four years, where she was responsible for all commercial activity including matchday hospitality sales and experience operations at Sixways Stadium.

Having helped Worcester achieve increased post-covid revenue, partner investment and hospitality income, Wood makes the move north following over 25 years of experience in the commercial world, having previously enjoyed success as Group Advertising Director at Centaur Media PLC for 18 years.

Wood left her role at Worcester earlier this year after the English Premiership side entered administration.

Wood said: “I’m delighted to be joining Edinburgh Rugby as Head of Commercial. It’s an exciting time in the club’s development at DAM Health Stadium.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with a talented team to retain and grow existing partnerships and to build lasting relationships with new sponsors and partners.”

She continued: “During my time with Worcester Warriors I was very proud of the relationships I had with our many loyal partners, as well as the excellent award-winning commercial team that we managed to build.

“I hope that my experience in sales and management will help bring similar benefits to Edinburgh Rugby and I can’t wait to take on this exciting challenge in a brilliant new city.”

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth added: “We’re really excited to bring in someone of Gill’s experience and expertise and we believe she’ll be an excellent addition to our already talented commercial team.

“Gill’s work at Worcester saw her assemble a diverse and committed sponsor family and we firmly believe she’ll continue that fine work here at Edinburgh Rugby with our existing partners who are hugely invested in the success of the club.

“We can’t wait to welcome Gill to Edinburgh in the early New Year and I’m sure she’ll be eager to hit the ground running and begin working with our commercial family from the get-go.”
