Lawrie retained as Edinburgh begin revealing 2026/27 coaching group

Forwards Coach Stevie Lawrie has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the capital club – becoming the first confirmed name as Edinburgh Rugby begins to unveil its coaching group for the 2026/27 season, with new appointments to follow this week.

Lawrie’s extended terms will form a key part of a new-look coaching setup that balances continuity with fresh quality, experience, expertise and impetus, as the club builds toward next season.

Born and raised in the Scottish capital, Lawrie has been part of the club’s coaching staff since 2019, earning recognition at international level with his appointment as Scotland ‘A’ Forwards Coach in 2024.

He first joined the club’s coaching staff as Assistant Forwards Coach, before promotion to Forwards Coach in 2021, and has gone on to become a key part of Edinburgh’s coaching setup.

His appointment as Scotland ‘A’ Forwards Coach in 2024 ahead of the side’s fixture against Chile at Hive Stadium was further recognition of his standing within the Scottish game, a role he continued for the national side’s fixture against Italy XV in Rieti in February this year.

Lawrie said: “I’m excited to be a part of this club moving forward and developing this talented group of players whilst contributing to a successful Edinburgh Rugby.

“The ambition at this club is clear and I’m determined to play my part in making sure we deliver on that.”

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach, Sean Everitt, said: “Stevie is an Edinburgh man through and through – he understands this club, he understands what it means to the city, and that connection runs deep with our players and our supporters.

“What Stevie has done with our forward pack has been brilliant and his recognition at international level with Scotland A is thoroughly deserved. Alongside the incoming coaches, I believe we have a coaching ticket with real quality, real experience, and real ambition – and I look forward to what this group can achieve together.”

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “Retaining Stevie was a priority for me. He is a hugely important figure at this club – not just for what he delivers on the training pitch, but for what he represents. Stevie is one of our own, and that matters.

“Stevie’s experience, expertise and commitment to Edinburgh Rugby at the heart of our new coaching team it is exactly what we wanted. He will be central to driving the standards and the culture that we must continue to build here.”
