Ritchie signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until at least 2021, whilst the back-row made his 50th appearance for the club against Ulster in September 2018 at the age of just 22-years-old.
The back-row was named in Gregor Townsend’s Scotland squad for the 2018 Summer Tour to Canada, USA and Argentina and made his international debut against Canada on 9 June.
Ritchie was one of Scotland’s standout performers during the 2019 Six Nations campaign, while that form continued into the 2019 Rugby World Cup where the back-row’s masterclass match-up against Japan rubber-stamped his status as one of World Rugby’s burgeoning stars.
On the club front, Ritchie helped Edinburgh Rugby to it’s first ever Guinness PRO14 Semi-Final against Ulster in 2019-20, as well as a Challenge Cup Quarter-Final away to Bordeaux Bègles.
The back-row return to Six Nations duty in early 2020 where he once again showcased his rising stock, picking up Player of the Match in the home victory over France in March 2020.

The combative flanker enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 season, becoming the Scottish Building Society Player of the Season, and earning a spot in the BKT United Rugby Championship Elite XV.
Ritchie also became a club centurion, picking up his 100th cap whilst wearing the socks of Madras College and Howe of Fife – his junior sides.
