Robert Chrystie

Assistant Skills and Attack Coach

Former Melrose RFC and Southern Knights coach Robert Chrystie joined Edinburgh Rugby as an Academy Coach in 2021 after building an impressive resume of success in Scottish clubland.

The former-scrum half was handed the role of Skills and Assistant Attack Coach at the club in July 2021, where he joins a newly formed coaching group alongside Stevie Lawrie (Forward Coach), Michael Todd (Defence Coach) and Sean Everitt (Senior Coach).

A former scrum-half for his native Hawick, Melrose, Bath, Coventry, Border Reivers and Scotland A, Chrystie’s first venture into coaching was with Melrose 11 years ago where he was an assistant to Craig Chalmers and then John Dalziel.

He took on the top job at The Greenyards in 2016 and had two seasons as Head Coach of the Scotland Club XV between 2017 and 2019, while also working as skills coach with Scotland U20 during recent U20 Championships.
