Jamie Ritchie

Blindeside Flanker

Back-row Jamie Ritchie has been of the club's most consistent performers since signing a senior deal straight out of high school aged just 17-years-old.

The former Scotland U20 captain came off the bench to make his senior team debut in Dublin against Leinster in October 2014 and has never looked back.

A destructive ball carrier who’s sharpness in and around the breakdown make him a constant defensive threat, Ritchie’s game continues to develop with a plethora of back-row stars surrounding him,

Ritchie signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until at least 2021, whilst the back-row made his 50th appearance for the club against Ulster in September 2018 at the age of just 22-years-old.

The back-row was named in Gregor Townsend’s Scotland squad for the 2018 Summer Tour to Canada, USA and Argentina and made his international debut against Canada on 9 June.

Ritchie was one of Scotland’s standout performers during the 2019 Six Nations campaign, while that form continued into the 2019 Rugby World Cup where the back-row’s masterclass match-up against Japan rubber-stamped his status as one of World Rugby’s burgeoning stars.

On the club front, Ritchie helped Edinburgh Rugby to it’s first ever Guinness PRO14 Semi-Final against Ulster in 2019-20, as well as a Challenge Cup Quarter-Final away to Bordeaux Bègles.

The back-row return to Six Nations duty in early 2020 where he once again showcased his rising stock, picking up Player of the Match in the home victory over France in March 2020.

Ritchie made headlines in January 2021 as he agreed to the longest contract extension in club history, committing his future to Edinburgh Rugby for the foreseeable.
