Born in Melrose and raised in East Lothian, second-row Callum Hunter-Hill started his rugby at North Berwick RFC. He continued through Stewart’s Melville College, where he won the Brewin Dolphin Shield, and went on to captain Stirling County.

As a MacPhail Scholar, he spent time with the Canterbury High Performance Unit in New Zealand. He captained Scotland at both U18 and U20 level, earning 19 U20 caps, and made his professional debut for Glasgow Warriors against Zebre in 2016.

Hunter-Hill first joined Edinburgh ahead of the 2017/18 season after a loan spell at London Scottish. He made his debut as Edinburgh player #1240 away to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. He enjoyed a breakout 2018/19 campaign, featuring 18 times in all competitions, including home and away Champions Cup victories over Newcastle Falcons.

He joined Saracens on loan ahead of the 2019/20 season and made 25 appearances before the move was made permanent. He was instrumental in Saracens’ 2020/21 Championship-winning campaign, which brought them back to the Premiership at the first attempt.

Across five seasons at StoneX Stadium he made 81 appearances, including coming off the bench in the 2022/23 Premiership Final win over Sale Sharks. He then spent the 2024/25 season with Investec Champions Cup finalists Northampton Saints.

Though yet to win a senior Scotland cap, Hunter-Hill has been involved in national training camps. He was selected for the 2021 summer tour to Georgia and Romania, which was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and was later called into the squad for an Autumn Test against Argentina at BT Murrayfield.

He rejoined Edinburgh on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 season and became a regular in the second row, making 16 appearances in his first season back.

In May 2026 he extended his contract by a further year, keeping him at Hive Stadium until the end of the 2027/28 season. He has started at lock in Edinburgh’s opening URC wins of 2026/27.
