Scottish-qualified tighthead prop Rhys Litterick joined Edinburgh Rugby ahead of the 2025/26 season on an initial two-year deal from Cardiff Rugby. He qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born grandfather.

Litterick’s journey to professional rugby is a testament to his determination. Born in Worthing, West Sussex, he was overlooked by academies as a teenager and instead played semi-professional rugby for Worthing RFC while working as a landscaper on building sites.

Harlequins picked him up from Worthing, bypassing the traditional academy route. He made six appearances for the Premiership club, gaining further experience on loan at Esher and London Scottish and benefiting from the guidance of former Cardiff and Wales tighthead Adam Jones.

He joined Cardiff ahead of the 2023/24 season and quickly established himself. With injuries elsewhere in the squad, he stepped up as the club’s front-line tighthead, and his impressive debut campaign earned him a long-term contract. He went on to make more than 30 appearances at Cardiff Arms Park.

Litterick’s Edinburgh career had a cruel start when he ruptured his Achilles in the opening minutes of his first appearance, a pre-season friendly against Ulster in Belfast in September 2025.

He underwent surgery and spent the season working through a lengthy rehabilitation, during which he also helped coach the forwards of Edinburgh Rugby’s women’s team in the Celtic Challenge.

He returned to full training with the squad in autumn 2026.
