An Edinburgh native, Scott came through George Watson’s College before honing his game in club rugby with Boroughmuir and Southern Knights.
He progressed through the national age-grade pathway and earned his first full Scotland U20 cap against Ireland at Irish Independent Park in the opening fixture of the 2020 U20 Six Nations. Despite the defeat, he marked the occasion with his first U20 try, and he went on to play two seasons at that level.
Rugby runs in the family, with his sister having represented Scotland at U19 level.
Scott made his debut for his boyhood club off the bench in Edinburgh’s win over Cardiff Rugby at Cardiff Arms Park in October 2022, becoming player #1317.
He signed his first professional contract in March 2023, while gaining valuable experience on loan at London Scottish in the English Championship. There he played mostly at centre, which he has described as a formative experience for his game at stand-off.
A run of appearances off the bench in 2024/25 included wins over the DHL Stormers, Munster and Dragons, as well as the EPCR Challenge Cup Round of 16 victory over the Emirates Lions. That April he committed his future to the capital with a two-year contract extension.
Scott stepped up in 2025/26. He started at stand-off in a 43-0 shutout of Benetton at Hive Stadium, landing a string of conversions from the touchline.
In December he steered the side at 10 as Edinburgh beat RC Toulon on their return to the Investec Champions Cup. He added a further start against the Hollywoodbets Sharks in April as he continued to push for regular selection in the No. 10 jersey.
