Edinburgh Rugby announced the signing of Argentinian sensation Emiliano Boffelli ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Rosario-born Boffelli represented Argentina at both U18 and U19 level before being named in the U20 squad for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Junior World Cups.
The Puma playmaker made his Super Rugby debut for Jaguares in 2016 at the age of 21, but injury saw him miss the subsequent Test season, delaying his arrival on international stage.
Boffelli eventually made his Argentina debut against England in June 2017 and, after making 11 Test appearances that same season, was nominated for World Rugby Breakout Player of the Year.
A strong Super Rugby season in 2019 – that included a try in the semi-final victory over the Brumbies in Buenos Aries – saw Boffelli named Argentina’s starting full-back at Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, before securing a move to Top14 powerhouse Racing 92 in 2020.
Boffelli made history in his Edinburgh Rugby debut, scoring after just three minutes as the capital club secured a bonus-point road victory over Dragons in November 2021.
