Edinburgh-raised lock Euan McVie has rugby in his blood. His father, Malcolm, played for Edinburgh District and Edinburgh Accies in the early 1990s, and Euan grew up watching him at Raeburn Place before playing the majority of his own rugby with the Accies.
A Scotland U18 international, McVie featured for Heriot’s Rugby in the FOSROC Super Series Sprint before joining the Edinburgh pro-academy ahead of the 2023/24 season.
He made his Scotland U20 debut in the second row in the opening match of the 2024 U20 Six Nations. That summer he was a key part of the Scotland side that won the World Rugby U20 Trophy at Hive Stadium, scoring the opening try in the final against the USA to help secure promotion back to the World Rugby U20 Championship.
McVie gained senior experience on loan with Doncaster Knights in the English Championship’s Premiership Cup in autumn 2024.
In November 2025 he started for Emerging Scotland against a Tonga XV. He made his professional debut off the bench in a dramatic 26-24 Investec Champions Cup win over Gloucester at Hive Stadium in January 2026, becoming Edinburgh player #1350.
In May 2026 he stepped up to his first professional contract with his hometown club.
